Welcome

Paint Store is an instrumental math-rock band from Richmond, Virginia.  We started programming this robot in 2015.  Welcome to our page which will hopefully document us having a super fun time rocking this house.

Paint Store EP now available! Oh snap. "Banana in the Tailpipe Syndrome" (See below for details)

Yay!  Our EP is finally available for listening pleasures.  It's been a while in the works.  It was fun to work on.  This project was originally just going to be a recording one with no intention of ever playing live, but that seems to have changed!  Ironically we ended up playing live several times before the CD was available.

Check our the web-store to purchase a snazzy download or velveteen physical copy (CD) at this link:

We have shirts available as well, as soon as I can summon the power to drive my brain to command my nimble fingers to push click on a camera and then upload and edit the image and create a product and enter it into the store.  (should be within a day or so)

Available here in the future:  Link to nowhere, nobody, and nothing (but I would click it if I where using your body to click it)

We are gonna hit the studio once again in early 2017 (Feb-stack?) to start recording the next group of tunes, so stay tuned.  I will be posting some rehearsal videos and drum play throughs in the near future, so keep an eye out for that stuff.

Thanks for listening!!!!! I love you.

Oh yeah, here is a sample (whole song) of the first song on the disc (directly below this here sentence).  Go ahead and rub it all over your chest!  It's good for dry skin, sore limbs, BO, FO (foot odor), Crotchological stench, Buttological stench, rubberneck, rubberleg, rubberside-panel, as well as treating small dents and scrapes.

CAUTION: if you stuff it in your vehicular tailpipe, it will cause "banana in the tailpipe syndrome" which is also treatable using Paint Store: Kepler 452-B, but may require twice the dose.

Paint Store searching for new bassist!

Yup, looking for someone's booty to fill the bass chair.  Natalie Quick is our current bassist, but she is involved in a few serious projects that will eventually take her to Indonesia for a year, so HELP!  Play bass with us!

All the music is scored out and sequenced in Guitar Pro, and I have recordings and video of all the songs, so all you have to do is take the time to learn the music! We practice once a week, always working on new material, and gig around once a month or so I guess.

If you are interested, send me an email at jonwon1@hotmail.com and I will send over the Guitar Pro scores, recording and video for you to poke around with!

Here is a sample of the charts we typically work off:

Jonah Butler Drum Cam

Here is a quick video of our drummer Jonah playing "3rd Song fo dat Azz" at Wonderland.  It was shot on a GoPro, and actually sounds decent!  A demo recording of this track is also available to listen to on our "Music" page.

Why are we called Paint Store?

Good question, I ask myself that sometimes...............and then I remember.............because it's the worst/best name ever............and nobody has ever used it for their stupid band yet (other than us).

The idea isn't really original, it came from a movie called "Our Idiot Brother".  Here is a link to the scene that inspired it all.

00:49:13 - Oh, sweet! - Really?

00:49:16 Sweet? You'd be psyched to go to some rock club?

00:49:20 See a band called, like, Paint Store...

00:49:24 - ...or something? - Not really.

00:49:26 No, you don't.

So there you have it, the reason we are named Paint Store.  Partly because it is available, partly because it is relatively sweet, and partly because it is funny.  I should also mention that we are pretty much a metal band, but in many ways heavy metal culture is a bit too serious for my taste, therefore I'm down with a less serious name-vibe.
